In-House Training
Margaret, the CEO of a local Council was concerned that her
organisation had encountered a number of difficulties in community
consultation. Councillors were keen to consult with the community
but the organisation was just beginning to develop internal
policies, consultation guidelines and a clearer understanding
of the skills required.
CLM provided a brief training and development program to build
staff skills in consultation and in the conduct of meetings
and focus groups - and to assist the organisation to develop
internal policies and processes for consultation.
Board and Executive Planning
A non-government service agency had grown rapidly over the
past few years. Team leaders now found themselves to be 'managers'
with business plans and budgets. The Board was concerned with
its role and the demands of service were increasingly complex.
CLM consultants worked with the Board and management teams
to clarify roles, responsibilities, work styles and arrangements
for the achievement of their strategic aims.
Organisational Review
A large service organisation wished to review its operations
and structure - but to engage its staff, management and other
key groups in the process.
A consultative process, involving
representative groups of managers and staff, focus groups,
individual consultations and specific working groups was developed
and conducted over several months by CLM consultants. It included
reviews of internal systems, human resources, management arrangements
for business units and service profiling leading to the recommendation
and endorsement of a wide range of organisational goals and
strategies.
Team Development
John managed a team of skilled but independent project staff.
He was concerned that staff did not necessarily support each
other when it was necessary, yet complained about feeling 'overworked
and under appreciated'.
A team review and development program
was developed to assist team members to better understand their
shared and individual objectives, resolve work difficulties
within the team and get to know each other better.
Facilitation of Community and Organisational Consultation
CLM consultants designed and facilitated a series of focus
groups and a larger community meeting to assist a service manager
in review and strategic planning for his service. |
